Joseph B. Atkinson, Jr. of Atkinson Freight Lines, Dies
Joseph B. Atkinson, Jr., C.E.O. of Atkinson Freight Lines in Bensalem, PA, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 2, 2000. He was 58.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the owner of the 125 year old regional carrier. Under his leadership the company grew from a local fleet of ten trucks to its current size serving shippers from Maine to Virginia.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, and 2 sons. He is also survived by two sisters, and three grandchildren.
Joe was a 1965 graduate of Philadelphia College of Textile & Science and is a member of the American Trucking Association, Interstate Truckload Carriers Conference and the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association.
